Comfort schools have all received Blue Ribbon status from the U.S. Dept. of Education for high performance or significant improvement. Presently, there are four schools in Comfort that include the public school, Comfort High School (9-12), Comfort Middle School (6-8, also public), St. Boniface Episcopal School Pre-K that is a private school, and Comfort Elementary School that is Pre-K through 5th grade (public).


James Kiehl River Bend Park (JKRB)

A serene 25-acre natural area with grassland, woodland, and riparian habitats named in memoriam of Army Spc. James Kiehl. The grove features a Texas sandstone monument to James and Kendall County servicemen and women, James’ story, and benches and picnic tables under the shade of native pecan trees. In addition, the park has 1,634 feet of Guadalupe River frontage which provides access to the river for fishing, paddling, swimming, and relaxing. You can walk along the 1.5 miles of multi-use trails for fun, exercise, and nature study. It is a preferred birding destination in the Hill Country. Birding groups from Kendall, Kerr, Gillespie, and Bexar counties hold bird walks at the park. KCPP and Hill Country Chapter Master Naturalists conduct a monthly bird and wildlife censuses. The bluebird nest boxes here provide shelter and nests for migrating Eastern bluebirds and native Texas species.

Joshua Springs Park and Preserve ( JSPP )

Comfort’s beautiful 365-acre park and natural area on the banks of Little Joshua and Allen Creeks at Ring Mountain. It has active and passive recreation areas offer many opportunities to have fun and enjoy nature. The extensive natural surface trail system provides walking or hiking enthusiasts with varied ascents and descents through multiple ecosystems and habitats. Enjoy views of Joshua Creek lake and learn about the park’s natural resources and history while walking the granite surface trails. Additionally, it has three bluebird trails that provide 18 nest boxes to shelter migrating Eastern bluebirds and native Texas species. The designated fishing areas allow anglers to test the waters. Two play areas are available for the Kiddos, along with party pavilions and picnic areas. Here you will have panoramic views from Ring Mountain.

Fourth of July Celebration

The Independence Day Celebration in Comfort, TX is loaded with family fun! Starting with a 10 AM Parade, sometimes offering a flyover demonstration prior to the parade, at 9:45 AM, and moving into a delicious Bar-B-Q lunch in the Park, while being entertained with live music.  Read for More about Fourth of July Celebration in Comfort.


German festivities at the Frühlingsfest Spring Celebration in the Historic District of Comfort, Texas. This German springtime festival features cultural and local attractions.

Treue Der Union Monument

After the war, their remains were brought back to Comfort for burial, at Monument Hill in Comfort, Texas, where a memorial called the “Treue der Union” (loyalty to the Union) was built in their memory. These German Freethinkers died honorably, for their loyalty to the Union, and their refusal to fight for slavery. Scarecrow Invasion

Each year Comfort, TX has an event called invasion of scarecrows. This happens to fall just in time for the annual Comfort Village Fall Antiques Show in October, to deter any marauding blackbirds that might be coming into town to bother visitors.
